Hot Glue Gun Snowman

I saw this pin before the holidays, and thought it was cute.

The instructions are fairly easy, you tie a piece of string and then shoot out the hot glue around it. While it is still warm, you add beads for the eyes and a little piece of pipe cleaner for the nose.

Obviously, you have to work quickly. 

Mine was not exactly a snowman.

I made Cassandra from Dr Who as part of a swap. (Dr Who Crafts swap.)

I wiggled the dried piece to get the crackled effect. 

As you can tell, the inner ring of glue was partially dry by the time I added the second ring. (Lost time while adding a new glue stick.)

I think this would be solved if you either have a better glue gun or were quicker about refilling it. Mine is sooooo slow. 

This became a magnet.

This time though I kneaded the hell out of it and then let it rest for 30 minutes before making anything.

THEN I turned down the heat. 250.

Baked these for several hours.

The initial place I found this recipe stated that they were done when they sounded hollow when tapped.

Nana loved her ornament.

Smash All the Books

A smash book is hardly a new concept. I remember doing something similar when I was in middle school and high school. You take a notebook and doodle in it, glue/tape things in it. In my lifetime I have made a gazillion of these.


Do you remember doing THOSE smash books?

And now, thanks to K & C Company, they are being mass-marketed and seem to be pretty popular. This is just a new fresh spin on the concept that makes us want to do it all over again. I believe they have even trademarked the term Smash Book.


You go and buy a nice, blank book and all the cute, little accessories to go with it. Can you say cha-ching? 

I say, no. Do you really want the same book and accessories as everyone?

I am working on a couple at the moment, using discarded books. One is for my sister, shhh.
